Meet Our Team


Harley Maxwell

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Harley graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1979. He came to Corio in February 1983 having previously worked in a mixed practice in Mildura. Harley has developed interests in cardiology, skin disease, and behaviour having done post graduate training through the University of Sydney in these areas. (Harley has a couple of pets, but they're a bit camera shy!)

Upeka Nanayakkara

Veterinarian (BVSc,)

Upeka graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2006, and joined the clinic in December of that year. She worked with us until April 2012, during which time she completed a post graduate course in feline medicine. Upeka  then moved to the UK for a working holiday at a small animal practice, and re-joined our team in July 2013. It is great to have her back at the clinics.

Emily Turner

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Emily graduated from Dublin University in 2009. After coming to Australia to do work experience as a vet student, she always wanted to return.  In May 2014, Emily joined our team after four years practising at home in Ireland, and in the UK.  We are happy to welcome Emily to the clinic.

Melissa See

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Melissa is orginally from Singapore. Melissa studied Veterinary Science at Melbourne University and graduated in 2011. She has taken special interest in small animal medicine and previously worked at a mixed practice in Moe. She has become a valuable member of the team.

John Langley

Veterinarian (BVSc)

John is now retired, so he can spend more time travelling and working on the farm. But you may still see him around, as he helps us out with the occasional session.

Zara Meer

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Zara Meer is new to Australia and joined us in the early 2017. Zara graduated from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, in 2012 and has a special interest in medicine. She is keen to experience all that Australia has to offer and is looking forward to meeting the locals.


Veterinary Practice Manager (Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing)

Kelly started as a veterinary nurse at the Corio clinic in 2000. She worked here for 11 years, during which time she gained her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, graduating with an award in emergency nursing.

At the end of 2011, Kelly took a year-long break and moved to Darwin where she continued to work as a veterinary nurse. She re-joined our nursing team in January 2013, and has brought back a wealth of knowledge to share. Kelly is our Practice Manager as well as the central platform in our veterinary nursing team  – she is responsible for co-ordinating all of the clinic duties, and is an integral part of our team.





Veterinary Nurse

Karen is our practice's founding Veterinary Nurse with over 30 years experience. She is a Lara local, who these days is our main veterinary nurse at our clinic in Lara. You will find her there working the morning shifts and most evenings.

Karen's experience, willingness to listen to clients and helpfulness, are a great asset to our practice. You will always find Karen a pleasure to deal with.


Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing)

Miranda has been with us since 2004. During her time here Miranda gained her Veterinary Nursing Certificate IV and in doing so received an award in Dental Nursing. In 2006 she completed the microchipping implantation accreditation course.

In 2007 Miranda took some time off travelling in Europe, in which she gained some more experience honouring her vet nursing skills in England. Miranda is a qualified Veterinary Nurse and won the dental nursing award in her year before her travels. She re-joined our team in late 2008, and recently went on maternity leave.


Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing)

Rachel joined us in January 2007, where she showed outstanding abilities during her work placement with the Veterinary Nurse Course. In 2008 she gained her Certificate IV, graduating with an Emergency and Critical Care award.

Rachel enjoys all aspects of nursing and has a special interest in surgical nursing duties.


Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing)

Tracy was employed as part of the nursing team in 2009. She has completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and balancing her nursing duties with training her race horses. Tracy has a friendly demeanour and is always willing to assist in both client and patient needs.


Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, Diploma of Emergency Nursing)

Sarah works at both our Corio & Lara clinics part time, joining us in late 2016. She has completed Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing & Diploma of Emergency Nursing at Box Hill Tafe. Originally from Melbourne Sarah relocated to the Geelong region in 2015 and has a hobby farm in North Central Victoria. She has recently gone on maternity leave.


Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing)

Laura is the newest member of our nursing team, joining us in January 2017. Laura completed Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing at Victoria Univertsity in 2012 and had 6 years clinical experience prior to joining our team at Corio.  You will see Laura at the clinic three days a week and some weekends.


Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing )

Ellie is originally from the United Kingdom, but relocated to Australia early in 2010, and has set up locally and she has joined us in April 2013. Ellie has completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing at Victoria University prior to starting with us. You will see her smiling face at both the Corio and Lara clinics. Ellie is currently on maternity leave.
