Meet Our Team

Upeka Nanayakkara

Veterinarian (BVSc,)

Another familiar face to a lot of our clients, Upeka has been here at the clinic since 2006 after graduating from Melbourne University. She took a little break from Corio in 2012, for 18 months to do some traveling.

Due to her experience, vision and dedication to the clinics Upeka has become the Lead Veterinarian and works closely with Kelly. Upeka is currently undertaking a diploma in management and has completed a post graduate course in feline medicine.

Outside of work Upeka is a fan of the outdoors, spending a lot of time gardening, doing the occasional fun-run and also continuing her travel-bug ways with as many trips overseas as she can manage. She is a black cat fan and her spoilt tiny orphaned black kitten called Tuohy is now a big beautiful boy.

Upeka is an integral part of our clinic team and is proving herself to be a great leader to our crew, we are lucky to have her here and are always grateful she did return from overseas.

Emily Turner

Emily graduated from Dublin University in 2009. After coming to Australia to do work experience as a vet student, she always wanted to return.  In May 2014, Emily joined our team after four years practising at home in Ireland, and in the UK.  We are happy to welcome Emily to the clinic.

Practice Manager (Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing)

You may know Kelly from her nursing days – starting way back in August 2000! During her nursing career, Kelly gained her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, graduating from Box Hill TAFE with an award in Emergency nursing.

At the end of 2011, Kelly took a year-long break and moved to Darwin where she continued to work as a Veterinary Nurse. She re-joined our nursing team in 2013, and has brought back a wealth of knowledge and additional experience to share.

Knowing the clinic back to front and inside out, Kelly has now taken on the role of Practice Manager and is the central platform in our Veterinary team. She is always willing to help our patients, clients and staff and goes above and beyond to ensure things run smoothly in the clinic.

Kelly enjoys spending time with her two staffies and her newest family member, a little rescue pup. She still likes to get back to the warmer weather in Darwin when possible. When Kelly isn't at work she spends a lot of her time volunteering with Geelong Animal Rescue and can often be found at tin rattles or sausage sizzles around Geelong raising money to help out even more animals.

Kelly is pivotal to the running of the clinic, she can answer any question and sort out anything that needs to be sorted, and we are extremely lucky to have such a great leader in her.
